What Sila is
Sila is a service for keeping track of the people you know and how you are connected to others through them. It is operated by an individual, not a company. Using it means agreeing to what is below.
Your account
- You need a phone number you control. A six-digit code sent to that number is how you sign in, so anyone who can read your texts can reach your account.
- One account per person. Don't hold an account for a number that isn't yours.
- You must be old enough to enter into this agreement where you live.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and it is a real delete.
Sign-in messages
Requesting a sign-in code is what causes us to text you: one message per request you initiate, at most 3 requests per 15 minutes and 12 per day for a number. We send no marketing or recurring messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Opting out of sign-in codes means you will not be able to sign in, since the code is the only way to do so.
Other people's information
You can add people who are not members, and you can import contacts. When you do, you are responsible for having their information legitimately. Don't upload a list you have no business holding.
Sila will never text the people you add on your behalf. Invitations open your own messaging app so the message comes from you. If you send one, that is your message, and the laws about texting people apply to you sending it.
The names and notes you record about other people stay private to you. Please keep in mind that they are still information about a real person, and hold them accordingly.
Things you may not do
- Claim to know people you don't, in order to appear closer to someone than you are.
- Harass, impersonate, or build a profile of somebody who hasn't consented.
- Scrape the service, or automate account creation.
- Try to work around the limits on who can see what.
Accounts doing any of the above can be removed without notice.
No warranty
Sila is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, lose data, or stop existing. Don't treat it as the only record of anything you care about. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any damages arising from your use of it.
Changes
These terms may change. Continuing to use Sila after a change means accepting the new version, and the date at the top will tell you when it last moved.
